How PAF Works

PAF provides children with the building blocks they need to learn in a logical order which results in minimum frustration -- and maximum success. Its step-by-step progression leads not only to improvement in basic skills but to an increased sense of mastery and self esteem. Children are taught:

  • The sounds letters make and how to write them

  • How to blend the individual sounds into words and spell them
    /t/ /e/ /n/ make the word ten

  • To use words, syllables and suffixes to build multisyllable words
    ten > tender > tenderly

  • To read accurately and fluently using phrases, sentences and stories that contain only sounds and words that have already been learned (decodable text)

  • Comprehension strategies to help them understand what they read
